What Glutathione Injections Are

The body’s primary antioxidant, delivered as a prescription injection because the oral form barely survives digestion.

Glutathione is a tripeptide made of three amino acids: glutamine, cysteine, and glycine. Your liver produces it, and nearly every cell in the body uses it as its primary antioxidant and in detoxification pathways. Levels decline with age, chronic stress, poor sleep, alcohol intake, and illness.

Oral glutathione is poorly absorbed; most of it is broken down in the gut before it reaches circulation. Injectable glutathione bypasses digestion entirely, which is why clinicians who prescribe it use injections rather than capsules.

At Precision Telemed, glutathione is prescribed as a subcutaneous injection you give yourself at home, typically once or twice per week. A licensed provider reviews your health history, sets your dose, and follows up with you. The medication is compounded by a licensed 503A pharmacy and shipped directly to you.

Glutathione is often used alongside other wellness programs, including NAD+ and weight loss protocols. Your provider will tell you whether combining it with anything else you take is appropriate.

Where Our Glutathione Comes From

Your vial contains glutathione (as reduced L-glutathione) in sterile water for injection, prepared to order by a state-licensed 503A compounding pharmacy in the United States. Nothing else.

01 · USP-grade ingredients

Active ingredient meets USP monograph standards.

The glutathione powder used in your vial is sourced from an FDA-registered supplier with a certificate of analysis for identity, purity, and potency.

02 · 503A compounding

Sterile compounding under USP <797>.

The pharmacy is licensed by its state board, inspected, and compounds each prescription in a sterile cleanroom to USP <797> standards.

03 · Not supplement-grade

Prescription only. Never research or supplement grade.

Supplement-grade glutathione is sold without a prescription, is not sterile, and is not made for injection. Your vial is prescribed, sterile, labeled with a beyond-use date, and traceable to its lot.

At-Home Injections vs IV Therapy

Both deliver glutathione directly into the body. The difference is cost, convenience, and how consistently you can keep up with it.

How Your Dose Is Set

Dosing is individual. Your provider sets it, you measure it with the included insulin syringes, and you can adjust together as you go.

There is no single standard dose for injectable glutathione. Your provider sets it based on your goals, weight, health history, and anything else you are taking. Most patients start at 200 mg once or twice per week and adjust from there.

Each vial contains 1,000 mg of glutathione, so a 200 mg dose is one fifth of the vial, about five injections per vial. Dosing is simple to measure with the insulin syringes included in your shipment. Your provider will tell you exactly how many units to draw and how often to inject, and you can message them with questions at any point.

Glutathione and NAD+ Together

Many patients pair glutathione with NAD+ injections. NAD+ supports cellular energy production; glutathione handles oxidative stress. They are injected separately and can be scheduled on the same day or alternating days. Ask your provider whether running both is right for you.

Glutathione Injection FAQ

Glutathione is the body’s primary antioxidant. Injections are prescribed to raise glutathione levels directly, bypassing the poor absorption of oral forms. Patients and providers use it to support antioxidant status, liver function, and recovery from oxidative stress. Some patients also notice a brightening or evening of skin tone over time. Individual results vary, and your provider will discuss what is realistic for you.

Most people tolerate it well. The most common downsides are injection-site soreness, mild nausea, or headache, which usually pass quickly. Long-term use can lighten skin tone, which some patients do not want. People with asthma should avoid it because it can trigger bronchospasm. It is also a recurring cost, since levels fall again if you stop.

There is no fixed length. Many patients run an initial course of 8 to 12 weeks at once or twice per week, then reassess with their provider. Some continue at a lower maintenance frequency; others cycle on and off. Your provider sets the schedule and adjusts it based on how you respond.

Injected glutathione enters circulation within minutes and is taken up by cells, where it neutralizes free radicals and supports detoxification enzymes in the liver. Most people feel nothing immediately. Over several weeks, some patients report steadier energy, clearer skin, or faster recovery. Effects are gradual and depend on your starting levels, dose, and lifestyle.

No. Compounded glutathione injections are not FDA approved. They are prepared to order by a licensed 503A compounding pharmacy under a prescription from a licensed provider, using pharmaceutical-grade ingredients and sterile compounding standards. Compounded medications are legal under federal law but are not reviewed by the FDA for safety or effectiveness the way brand-name drugs are.

Yes. Injectable glutathione is prescription only. At Precision Telemed, a licensed provider reviews your health questionnaire, meets with you if needed, and writes the prescription. The consult is included in the price and can often be completed the same day.
